In a year marked by uncertainty, workarounds, and frustration, we’ve learned about our capacity for resilience, patience, and persistence in serving clients and transcribers. Now, more than ever, we are mission ready!
One key disruption caused by the pandemic was the cancellation of our company retreat last summer. Nonetheless, the TypeWell team has been conferring about our evolving purpose and relevance as new speech-to-text technology emerges.
“As a sole business owner, I had never taken the time to write out a formal mission statement defining the company’s vision and values,” said Kate Ervin. “However, after going through that process with a couple of nonprofits and, most recently, the Association of Transcribers & Speech-to-Text Professionals, I understood how valuable it can be for a team to develop those shared statements.”
We met virtually at the end of 2020, and, with the guidance of a facilitator, have crafted the following mission, vision, and values statements.
OUR VISION
Everyone has the right to fully access communication and engage in the exchange of ideas.
OUR MISSION
To foster an environment of accessibility, inclusivity, and empowerment and serve to enrich the lives of individuals with alternative communication needs.
We recognize our important role in the communication access industry through training transcription professionals, providing quality speech-to-text services, and nurturing relationships.
