TypeWell Version 5

 

 

 

TypeWell version 5 is now available.  This new version has many new features: 

• Fast typing of math equations and formulas, as well as physics, chemistry, and foreign language symbols;
• Superscripts and subscripts.
• Improved personal abbreviation list allows use of formatting and special symbols in abbrevations;
• Built-in math dictionary with thousands of symbols;
• Reader's independent scrolling through past pages separately from the transcriber's ongoing typing;
• Reverse colors for easier readability for readers who are visually challenged.
• Fully compatible for easy use by transcribers trained for TypeWell version 4.
• Many additional improvements throughout the product.

In addition there is now a Premium version of TypeWell with additional features like remote linking and Pocket linking.

Transcribing Math

Math and science lectures are especially hard for a transcriber to type quickly.  TypeWell V5's math feature makes it easy to quickly type symbols and formulas. 

In the past you may have typed x^2 or x2 when you meant x², or pi when you meant π.  Now just type x2 or pi and TypeWell's math mode automatically converts it to the correct math expression. 

Like the rest of TypeWell, this feature is designed for the busy transcriber who doesn't have time to fool around with arcane keystrokes and choosing symbols from menus.  You'll find TypeWell math mode puts nice looking equations into your transcript as fast as you can type. 

This is an advanced new feature so you may wonder how hard it is to learn.  You'll be pleasantly surprised how easy it is using the included Math tutorial.  However, beginning transcribers should not transcribe math and science classes.  We continue to strongly recommend that beginning transcribers work for at least one school term in non-math/science classes, to stabilize their basic transcribing skills, before learning the advanced skills needed for math and science transcribing.
