Training Computer Knowledge Requirements

The trainee must be able to do each of these basic laptop computer operations during the TypeWell training course: 

1. Identify the power switch, and turn on the computer
    
2. Locate the headphone jack, to plug in headphones
    
3. Locate and open the CD Rom drive
    
4. If the trainee will be using the floppy drive, insert and remove a floppy disk
    
5. Locate the USB port
    
6. Locate the control key (labeled Ctrl) and the alt key (labeled Alt)
    
7. Move the cursor on the screen using the laptop pointing device (touchpad or pointer stick)
    
8. Click the mouse using the right and left mouse buttons
    
9. Use the mouse to drag the cursor to highlight a block of text.  Use two hands to do this: one hand to move the cursor and the other hand to click the mouse button.  Contorting one hand to do both functions can stress the muscles and nerves in the hand.
