Pilot Co-Op Class Begins November 2014

We're looking forward to offering online professional development classes for TypeWell transcribers and disability service coordinators. These will take place in a new section of the TypeWell Learning Center website called "LEO" which is short for "Learning & Enrichment Online."

The course offerings will begin in earnest in Spring 2015, and the pilot class starting this month marks our soft launch:

common ground: Skill Enhancement and Network-Building for TW Transcribers
This 4-week pilot class begins in mid-November and is open to transcribers with a current TypeWell service qualification and at least 1 year of experience.

The pilot Co-op Class will provide transcribers with opportunities for connection and support, while developing both “hard” and “soft” skills relevant to their day-to-day work. Participants will strengthen their professional network, enhance their decision making abilities, and increase the quality of their service through self- and peer-evaluation activities.

Home Office Common Ground

In a co-synchronous class, professionals complete a multi-week course together, using Web tools to gather information, share resources, discuss ideas, and comment on each other’s contributions under the guidance of trained facilitators.

This is a co-synchronous course, which means that participants will complete weekly activities and readings on the same schedule, although they can log in and participate any time of day or night. The most important element of the course, though, is participation in the weekly facilitated discussions.

The expected time commitment is 5 hours per week, which should occur throughout the week for optimum learning and interaction.

Class dates: November 17 - December 13, 2014
Cost: $80 (B.C. transcribers may be eligible for a reduced tuition fee of $50)
Application deadline:Thursday, November 13, 2014
